AAG Honored for Outstanding Level of Ethics by the Better Business Bureau for Third Time

ORANGE, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2020)—American Advisors Group(AAG) is proud to announce it has been named a finalist for the 2020 Torch Awards for Ethics in the 200+ employee category by the Better Business Bureau Pacific Southwest. The Torch Awards raises awareness in marketplace ethics and honors businesses who operate with integrity.

“We are extremely proud to consistently be recognized by the Better Business Bureau as a leader in ethical business practices,” said AAG CEO Reza Jahangiri. “As a finalist for the 2020 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics, we are committed to living up to this honor and continuing to help our nation’s seniors safely and responsibly access their home equity to improve their retirement outcomes.”

The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics was established to recognize outstanding businesses that maintain a solid commitment to ethics and trust in the marketplace. Companies are selected by an independent panel of volunteer community leaders based on criteria established by the International Association of Better Business Bureaus.

All finalists completed an evaluation where they demonstrated their commitment to ethics in six categories:

  1. Leadership Commitment to Ethical Practices
  2. Communications of Ethical Practices
  3. Leadership Practices to Unify the Organization
  4. Organizational Commitment to Performance Management Practices
  5. Organizational Commitment to Ethical Human Resource Practices
  6. Organizational Commitment to the Community

“Ethics play a vital role in the success of a business, especially during a pandemic,” said Shelley Bradley, Director of Signature Events for BBB Serving the Pacific Southwest. “For 21 years, BBB has recognized companies for their solid commitment to doing things right in their industries. This year’s finalists represent BBB’s community of trustworthy businesses that operate with integrity at the forefront.”

AAG’s products and services are focused on helping older Americans strategically and responsibly utilize their home equity to create a better retirement. AAG offers a variety of retirement solutions including federally-insured and proprietary reverse mortgage loans, traditional home refinances, VA loans, and residential services for home buying and selling.

AAG has a comprehensive internal ethics program, which starts with the recruiting process and continues through new hire orientation and ongoing training programs. AAG also encourages employees to participate in community outreach programs, such as volunteering at local senior centers through the AAG Foundation and giving employees eight hours of volunteer-time-off per year. Over the years, the BBB has recognized AAG as a steward of ethical business practices; this is the third year AAG has been acknowledged as a finalist.

BBB made the critical decision to pivot this year’s in-person celebratory event to a virtual format as an ongoing commitment to keep our community safe and healthy. Throughout October, finalists and judges were celebrated through a visual digital campaign on BBB’s social media channels.
